Hi guys,
O palestrante do último encontro, professor Alan Fear, gentilmente nos cedeu alguns dos exemplos mostrados por ele sobre o inglês do País de Gales.
* Use of past partciple in place of past simple form of verb (only with some verbs):
“I done that”. “I seen that film”;
* Universal question tag “He plays rugby, is’nit?”, "You went there yesterday, is'nit?"
* Word order: “Raining, it is”, “money, he’s got a lot of it”, “Hurt,are you?"
* Some Welsh words: Welsh words:
- ach y fi!, (expression of disgust)
- twp, (silly, unintelligent)
- mwchyn (dirty, pig)
- Eisteddfodau (music and literature festival)
- cwtch (hug)
- bach (small, or something like "tche")
- bachgen (boy or again something like "tche")
- But, butty, boy, boyo, boybach, mun (expressions of friendship, like "cara" or "tche")
* Use of :“There’s nice”, There’s lovely”, “There’s tidy” (instead of "How nice; how lovely", etc)
* Some humerous sentences:
- Whose coat is that jacket?
- My beefburger fell out of my hamburger (que Alan realmente escutou alguém falar).
Thanks, Alan Fear!
See you next time, guys ;)
